You then explain how the arizal asked the obvious question - that it makes sense that serving g-d with love is significant and important but to say that because you don't serve g-d with happiness we are deserving of all these curses and "all these things we've gone through and the holocaust is absurd..." (obviously you added the comment about the holocaust because the arizal was not living at the time of that time).

You gave a great answer of why simchah is so important and how it keeps us from falling into immorality but you dont answer the question about if we don't do it, how does that warrant curses like the holocaust? I don't think you really answered the question. Reply
