Leadership
Each of us can serve as a leader. And one leader creates another and another, ad infinitum, just as one candle’s flame lights another and another, until the once-impenetrable darkness has turned to brilliant light.

Jonathan Cogan
President
|
Jonathan Cogan (Scarsdale, NY) has been a member of the Chabad Executive Board since 2008, serving as its treasurer. He is currently a junior double majoring in Economics and Philosophy, Politics, and Law.
Jonathan became involved in Chabad after realizing the importance of helping build a strong Jewish community for both the current and future students in Binghamton University. It is his wish that in the years to come the strength of the Jewish community here at Binghamton continues to grow rapidly.
He urges everyone to become more involved in Chabad and appreciate all that it has to offer.

Dayna Driscoll
Vice President
|
My name is Dayna Driscoll and I’m a Sophomore at Binghamton majoring in Linguistics and Political Science with a minor in Theatre. I’m from Brooklyn and in my free time I enjoy going to the city, spending time with friends, reading, shopping & cooking.
One of the main reasons I chose to come to Chabad was my desire to connect with other Jewish students and get involved in something that would add to my college experience. I started Binghamton in the Spring of my Freshman year & immediately after joining Chabad the feeling of being the new girl diminished. Not only did I make amazing friends, but I found a second home at the Chabad house.
Whether going to Chabad on Shabbat and holidays, for special events, or just to volunteer time, what I enjoy most is the overwhelming sense of purpose and love that I feel as a result.
Chabad has many opportunities to offer students & everyone is always welcome. At Chabad the doors are always open and I sincerely hope that
as time goes on I will see even more Binghamton students join this already growing family. |

Esther Liberman
Secretary
|
My name is Esther Liberman and I am now a senior at Binghamton University studying Economics with a minor in Judaic Studies. Unlike the majority of our students, I am not from New York, but was proudly raised in the small town of Sharon, Massachusetts right outside Boston. I love to cheer on the Red Sox, Patriots, and Celtics because when it comes to sports- let’s face it, we’re the best. In my spare time, I enjoy playing tennis, hiking, doing yoga, and most importantly, spending time with the amazing friends I have made here at Binghamton.
I cannot express how much Chabad means to me. There is no other place like it. To be able to walk into a building and be greeted with hundreds of smiles, even though you may not know a single face, is a truly unique and inspiring experience. I am honored to have the opportunity to contribute to their many events and fundraisers, and I cannot thank Chabad enough for making my college experience so incredibly enjoyable and meaningful.
I highly encourage everyone and anyone to take advantage of everything that Chabad has
to offer them. Their doors are always open and waiting for you to walk in. I hope that more and
more students will continue to join our growing family and become involved in making it even
bigger and better for the future.

Ariella Fineman
Greek Liaison
|
My name is Ariella Fineman and I am a sophomore here at Binghamton, majoring in Human Development. I am one of the many few out-of-state students from a small town outside of Boston called Sharon. During my free time, I like to read, run, snowboard, do yoga, hang out with my friends and spend time with my friends in Alpha Phi!
There are so many things I love about Chabad, but I feel that there is one thing that makes it extra special. Right when I enter the doors for Shabbat or any special event, I, along with so many other students, feel the warm and welcoming atmosphere from all the people that greet me with a smile.
No matter who you are, I believe that you can feel comfortable at Chabad. I would love to see more people from all denominations of Judaism come to Chabad’s events, especially more people in Greek life. I promise, once you come a few times, consistently, you’ll be hooked!

Saryah Sober
Public Relations
|
My name is Saryah Sober. I am a senior majoring in Political Science, and minoring in Cinema, and currently plan on going to law school after graduation. I was born and raised in New Rochelle, NY. I love playing soccer and practicing martial arts. I can also be found on B-TV on the hit show “This Isn’t Gunna Work”.
There are many reasons why I love the Chabad at Binghamton. It has wonderful utilities which are
opened 24/7, the staff is always looking to make sure that the students best interests is taken care of and most importantly for me, it is the center of the Jewish life in Binghamton. Also the community at the Chabad is second to none. I have made my best friends at Chabad and every year I feel like I make moreand more friends because of how incredibly close the community is. Not to mention that every Shabbos, Chag and activity is handled, planned and prepared with the utmost care to ensure that every student possible has the best time imaginable.
A message for all students is to get involved and try to help Chabad grow into a better place. If you want something done everyone associated with Chabad is on your side. I wanted to do a guys night out bowling and it happened because everyone supported me and helped me make it possible. If I can make an event happen I know that it is possible for anyone to get involved and help out.

Samantha Greenstein
Education Chair
|
My name is Samantha Greenstein, I am a sophomore here at Binghamton and majoring in history and Judaic studies and am on the pre-med track. I live in White Plains, NY but was born in South Africa and lived in Israel, England and Seattle before moving to NY. In my free time i love spending time with friends and relaxing, watching movies, bowling and swimming.
There are so many things that I love about Chabbad but my favorite thing is the friends that i have made here. The events, Shabbas meals and events are where i met my closest friends and established the friendships that will last us a lifetime. Chabbad gave me my family at Binghamton and can provide this for every Jewish student at Binghamton and is a home away from home.
The Chabbad house is always open to everyone and no matter what time you come in there are always cookies in the basement and someone with great advice! I hope that our Chabbad family keeps growing and more students take advantage of the amazing opportunities and resources that it has to offer!!!
