On Thursday, Nov. 13, almost four hundred students joined by community members gathered in BU's Mandella Room to mix, knead and shape Challah. Participants fist enjoyed a smorgasbord of Challah flavors and dips, and then got to work learning how to make their own Challah. Before shaping the dough into a Challah, the crowd joined in reciting the appropriate blessing over the mitzvah of Challah and a moment of prayer for those in need in blessing.
Participants left with a specially designed apron as a memento of the event, a recipe card that explained the mitzvah of Challah, and two challot, one to keep and one to give to someone who would appreciate it.
What an uplifting event!
