New Security Protocol- Important Announcement

In our ongoing efforts to keep our cherished community safe, we are enacting a new security protocol.

To get checked in to Chabad on Friday night and on Shabbat you will need to bring a form of hard Photo ID ( anything on the phone will not be accepted).

IF YOU ARE HOSTING GUESTS, PLEASE MAKE SURE TO MAKE THEM AWARE OF THIS POLICY.

Please do not forget as we truly do not want to be put in the position where we have to turn people away.

Shabbat at Chabad

Join us for Shabbat with special guest Rabbi Avrohom Berkowitz!
From powerbrokers in Moscow to President Nelson Mandela, from tycoons in Argentina to rural Alaska, to the CDC during the recent pandemic and the front lines during the first months of the war between Russia and the Ukraine, Rabbi Avrohom Berkowitz's life has been a series of truly remarkable encounters. Prepare to be enthralled and inspired, and to be challenged in rethinking what you are capable of accomplishing!

Jewish Bearcat of the Week
Featuring Ariel Biderman

What is your major, and why did you decide to pursue this degree?
I’m currently doing my prerequisites for nursing. I’ve wanted to be a nurse for as long as I can remember.  Helping others gives me the greatest of joy. I used to volunteer at nursing homes and homeless shelters from a young age and it was such a rewarding experience. I’m also fascinated by the systems of the body. Biology and anatomy are some of my favorite subjects.

Where are you from?  Where did you go to high school?
I'm from Rhode Island, but I went to Maimonides School in Boston!

What do you love about Jewish life on campus?|
I love how warm and welcoming the Jewish community on campus is. If anyone ever needs anything someone will be there to help them.

Do you have any siblings?
I am an only child, but I always wanted siblings.

What is your favorite book? Why?
It’s hard to choose just one! Some of my fiction favorites are Behind Closed Doors, the acotar series, and Only Ever Yours. For nonfiction I love Educated, Man’s Search for Meaning, Love is My Religion, and The Garden of Emuna.

Do you have a hobby?  Why do you love it?
I used to play a lot of sports like track and field, and volleyball. High jump was my favorite event as it made me feel completely free. For one second it felt like I was flying. I don’t play as much anymore, but I still love to run. I also enjoy reading, painting, and yoga.

What is your favorite Jewish food?
My favorite Jewish food has to be matzah. I feel like it’s very underrated, but I love it in anything, especially matzah ball soup.

If you were a breakfast cereal, which one would you be and why?
If I were a breakfast cereal I would be probably cheerios. I like the classics.

What's your dream job?
My dream job is to be a labor and delivery nurse!

What's a quote or saying that you like?
“? אִם אֵין אֲנִי לִי, מִי לִי. וּכְשֶׁאֲנִי לְעַצְמִי, מָה אֲנִי. וְאִם לֹא עַכְשָׁיו, אֵימָתַי”. ( If I am not for me, who will be for me? And when I am for myself alone, what am I? And if not now, then when?). I really love all of Pirkei Avot but this quote is definitely one of my favorites.

Rabbi Tzvi Freeman

A person is happy when he knows something worthwhile belongs to him.

A person is very happy when he feels he is small and yet he owns something very great.

We are all finite owners of the Infinite.
