Jewish Bearcat of the Week
Introducing Raquel Zwebner

What is your major, and why did you decide to pursue this degree?
My concentration is Business Administration and I’m majoring in Marketing  and minoring in Graphic Design.  I decided on this degree because I felt like it best suited me

Why did you choose Binghamton University?
I chose Binghamton because it offers the full college experience with a real campus atmosphere and plenty of opportunities to get involved in student life, while also providing a strong Jewish presence that makes me feel comfortable and supported.

Where are you from?  Where did you go to high school?
I’m from Teaneck and Englewood  NJ.  I went to The Frisch School.

What do you love about Jewish life on campus?
I love that no matter what your background is everyone is accepted and respected. And Chabad especially is what I love about Jewish life on campus because they go above and beyond to show this.

Do you have any siblings?
The short answer is yes, I have 3 brothers.

Do you have a hobby?  Why do you love it?
I would consider tennis my hobby. Tennis is a sport I had to teach myself, and I like that it’s all on me—there’s no team pressure. When I step onto the court, it’s my confidence, focus, and self-motivation that determine the outcome. If I want to win, it’s up to me.

What is your favorite Jewish food?
Chicken soup with Matza Balls not even a question.

What is your favorite food?
Sushi and Steak since day 1.

What's your favorite Jewish holiday and why?
Rosh Hashana because it’s purely a happy holiday and always brings family together.

If you were a breakfast cereal, which one would you be and why?
Fruity Pebbles because everyone loves them.

What is your favorite Chabad experience?
The Friday night Shabbat meals every week.

SOUL COFFEE
Rabbi Tzvi Freeman

The mandate of the whole of Creation is stated almost immediately.

They translate it as “Let there be light.”

But it is better translated as, “It should be light.”

Meaning that all the world—even the darkness—should become a source of light and wisdom.

And that mandate He put in our hands.
