Introducing Olivia Lahm
What is your major, and why did you decide to pursue this degree?
I'm currently undecided, but excited to explore new interests and potential careers.

Why did you choose Binghamton University?
I chose Binghamton because of its amazing Jewish community and the diverse range of resources and opportunities it offers.

Where are you from?  Where did you go to high school?
I’m from Bergen County, NJ, and I went to Frisch.

What do you love about Jewish life on campus?
I love how welcoming the community is and how many proud Jews there are.

Do you have any siblings?
I have two older sisters, one of whom attended Binghamton!

What is your favorite book? Why?
My favorite book is “The Notebook” since the ending gets me every time.

Do you have a hobby?  Why do you love it?
I love walking and going to the gym because I get to stay active while listening to music with my friends.

What is your favorite Jewish food?
Schnitzel and challah.

What is your favorite food?
Schnitzel

What's your favorite Jewish holiday and why?
Purim, because I love Hamantaschen, I’ve loved the story since I was a kid, and I've always enjoyed assembling and giving out Mishloach Manot.

What is your favorite Jewish childhood memory?
I have always loved Menorah lightings, drinking hot chocolate, and eating jelly donuts when it's freezing.

What is your favorite Chabad experience?
I love Friday night dinner when everyone comes together, and you get to hang out with all your friends after a busy week.

What makes you proud to be a Jew?
What makes me proud to be a Jew is that no matter who you are, all of us have such a deep love for each other. In hard times, we always come together and support each other.

Rabbi Tzvi Freeman

It’s easy to fix situations. It’s hard to have a lasting effect.

Easy fixes simply stir the mud, shifting the circumstances so that one problem recedes and another surfaces.

But if you want to make a real change in the world, it has to start from within your own self. Because that’s the only place where you can make a true change.

It’s only once you’ve made that change within yourself that you can bring about change outside of yourself—and be confident that it is real change.
