What is your major, and why did you decide to pursue this degree?
I am a nursing major, and I’ve wanted to be a nurse for as long as I can remember. I grew up with the medical field constantly present in my life, and I volunteered in different medical environments for many years, which only solidified my dream.
I’ve always wanted to help people, and nursing felt like the most meaningful way to do that.
Why did you choose Binghamton University?
I chose Binghamton because of its incredible Jewish community. I knew a few people who were already here, and I felt confident that I would meet some of my best friends here. The sense of community was a huge factor in my decision.
Where are you from? Where did you go to high school?
I’m from Teaneck, New Jersey, and I went to Ma’ayanot Yeshiva High School.
What do you love about Jewish life on campus?
I love how strong the Jewish community is. There are so many opportunities like clubs, events, and chances to learn and grow. It’s truly easy to be Jewish at Binghamton.
Do you have any siblings?
Yes! I have a twin sister and three brothers.
What is your favorite book? Why?
I love reading, so it’s hard to choose just one, but if I had to, it would be Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom. It’s a short, sweet, and meaningful book that really stays with you.
Do you have a hobby? Why do you love it?
I love cooking and traveling because both allow me to try new things and meet new people.
What is your favorite Jewish food?
A good bagel, there are truly endless possibilities and you can eat it for breakfast lunch or dinner.
What is your favorite food?
Carrots.
What’s your favorite Jewish holiday and why?
Chanukah is my favorite because I get to spend time with my family every night.
If you were a breakfast cereal, which one would you be and why?
Honestly, I would be a yogurt parfait.
What’s your dream job?
My dream job would be in nursing, ideally in a role where I can travel for interesting conferences and work both in a office and in the field doing something I love.
What’s a quote or saying that you like?
“Perception is reality.”
What is your favorite Jewish childhood memory?
Going to Eretz Bereshit in Israel with my family and reliving the Torah together.
How do you envision yourself in twenty years?
Living my best life in Israel, surrounded by friends and family.
What is your favorite Chabad experience?
My favorite Chabad experience was the first Shabbat, when I met some of my best friends after sitting together at Shabbat dinner.
What’s your favorite lockdown experience?
Growing a vegetable garden for the first time.
What makes you proud to be a Jew?
I’m proud to be a Jew because of the joy and meaning that comes from celebrating with the people around me.
