Featuring Talia Herbst

What is your major, and why did you decide to pursue this degree?
I’m majoring in psychology because I’ve always been interested in the subject, and I hope to become a school psychologist and be able to help other people.

Where are you from?  Where did you go to high school?
I am from Oceanside, NY and I went to The Schechter School of Long Island.  

What do you love about Jewish life on campus?
I love that there is always something going on for Jewish students to attend. It has made the transition from a smaller community to a bigger community feel a lot easier

Do you have any siblings?
I have a twin sister and younger brother. 

Do you have a hobby?  Why do you love it?
I love playing tennis and softball because they are a great outlet for me when I’m stressed and help me stay active. I also really enjoy spending time with my friends and family.

What is your favorite Jewish food? 
My favorite Jewish food is Matzah Ball soup with croutons.  

What is your favorite food?
My favorite food is Ice cream. I will never say no to ice cream! 

What's your favorite Jewish holiday and why?
I really love Hanukkah. It is such a fun, festive, celebratory holiday, and it really represents the resilience and strength of the Jewish people.

What's your dream job?
School Psychologist 

What's a quote or saying that you like?
“Always remember, you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, smarter than you think, and loved more than you know.”

What is your favorite Chabad experience?
I love coming every Friday night to Chabad for Shabbat dinner. It is always so warm and welcoming.
