What is your major, and why did you decide to pursue this degree?
I am pursuing a degree in Judaic Studies because I want to deepen my understanding of Jewish history and culture. After graduating, I plan to continue my work in the Jewish nonprofit world and use what I’ve studied to share our story.
Why did you choose Binghamton University?
After tensions grew on my previous campus, I decided to transfer to Binghamton last year because of its thriving (and very large) Jewish community.
Where are you from? Where did you go to high school?
I am from Westchester, NY and went to The Leffell School (formerly known as Solomon Schechter).
What do you love about Jewish life on campus?
I love that I never feel alone. I can’t walk down the Spine without running into someone, or go a day without attending some kind of Jewish event. The opportunities to get involved and connect are endless.
Do you have any siblings?
Yes! I have a younger brother named Anthony who is a Sophomore at Rutgers. Fun fact he’s the president of the bowling team and lives across the street from the Chabad house!
Do you have a hobby? Why do you love it?
Between taking classes and running a Student Organization, I love art! I’m super into “gem art” right now, if you don’t know what it is you should definitely look into it.
What is your favorite Jewish food?
Hot take…I actually LOVE gefilte fish, but it has to be the homemade kind, not from a jar.
What is your favorite food?
My favorite food has to be a good steak… which unfortunately is very hard to come by in Binghamton.
What's your favorite Jewish holiday and why?
When it’s not freezing outside, I really enjoy Sukkot. I love decorating the Sukkah, enjoying time with friends and family, and being completely immersed in the mitzvah.
What's your dream job?
My dream is to have a positive influence on my community and inspire others to embrace their Jewish identity. I don’t know what position that is yet, but that’s the dream!
What's a quote or saying that you like?
I love the quote “A little bit of light dispels a lot of darkness”.
What is your favorite Jewish childhood memory?
I remember in Hebrew school making mini sukkahs out of graham crackers and marshmallow fluff. Delicious!
What is your favorite Chabad experience?
Last year I attended Rivky’s birthday party and it was so much fun to connect and learn with other young Jewish women.
What makes you proud to be a Jew?
I always say, “everything I do, I do it as a Jew!” I am proud of my people and our strength, and proud to be the next link in the chain.
