Southwestern Israeli Consulate Preps Doorpost
The new entrance to the Consulate of Israel to the Southwest in Houston, Texas, now has a mezuzah gracing its doorpost following a brief ceremony presided over by Rabbi Chaim Lazaroff, program director at the city’s Chabad-Lubavitch Regional Headquarters and co-director of Chabad of Uptown. Joining Lazaroff in placing the mezuzah was Israeli vice consul Belaynesh Zevadia.
Ottowa Mayor Parties With Jewish Community
Ottowa Mayor Larry O’Brien joined some 300 university students for the Chabad Student Network’s Purim party last week. The mayor, sporting a black bowtie and cumber bun, was photographed with a brightly-costumed Rabbi Chaim Boyarsky at the holiday bash.
Illinois Tickets Benefit Victims of Terror
Jewish students at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign bought more than 300 tickets to the Chabad Jewish Student Center’s annual Purim extravaganza last week, with the proceeds benefitting Israeli victims of terror. According to Rabbi Dovid Tiechtel, all of the university’s five Jewish-affiliated Greek houses helped sponsor the event.
