Old friendships were strengthened and new ones forged at the Welcome Back Shabbat on Friday, August 28. Hundreds of BU students braved the rain and gathered at the Chabad Center for "cocktails" and shmoozing, followed by candle lighting, Kabbalat Shabbat services and of course Chabad's famous, home cooked, full course dinner. Shabbat lunch and Seudat Shlishit once again saw a full house. A great Shabbat was enjoyed by all ending with Havadalla followed by spirited dancing. An auspicious start to a great year!

Close to 100 Freshmen and Transfer students had a spectacular time at the Freshmen Knock-out Bagel Brunch. Participants enjoyed a delicious bagel brunch including omelets and pancakes. A highlight of the event was icebreaker games that left everyone knowing each other just a little bit better. Students even got to tie-die their own Chabad T-shirt.

Hot Sizzling Fun!
There was magic in the air along with the smell of BBQ and the shouts and the laughter. It was Chabad’s annual Welcome Back BBQ and the crowd was positively CRUSHING!
Hundreds (about 400 to be exact) of students turned out to enjoy the great food and the scene. Old friends and new friends reveled in the relaxed atmosphere and the great sense of community.

Challah Baking at Chabad has become such a sensation, that the first workshop of the semester had to be held in the social hall, rather than the kitchen…
Participants had a great time as always; each made their own dough from scratch and learned how to knead and shape it to perfection. Of course, they learned about the great Mitzvah of “taking Challah” and its significance in our tradition.

In the spirit of “turning tears into action”, Chabad once again spearheaded the Mitzvah Marathon (initiated in 2002 by Chabad) held at BU each year commemorating the victims of 9/11. A wall of remembrance was erected on which were hung the pictures of victims, each attached to a card which had the student's name & the mitzvah they performed in memory of the victim. Students contributed to various charities, donated blood, made PB & J sandwiches for the homeless, made get well cards for children in hospitals & holiday cards for Jewish troops, donned tefillin, said prayers, & pledged to conserve energy among other mitzvah options.
The event was co-sponsored by Hillel & JHP.

Nothing is as delicious as a fresh, picked off of the tree, NY State apple unless it’s picking and eating the apples with good friends!
Over fifty students participated in Chabad’s annual Fall apple picking event and many came back to the Chabad Center to turn their apples into scrumptious Kugel and cake.

What a crowd, what a vibe, what a fun program! Over 65 women took part in the first Ladies Nite Out in honor of Rosh Chodesh and enjoyed a Sushi Making demo and tasting along with learning about Rosh Chodesh and Rosh Hashana. There is nothing like female bonding!

Over 300 students participated in the Chabad services on campus throughout the holiday of Yom Kippur. After the blowing of the Shofar, students (as hungry as they were) prayed Maariv, the evening service, heard Havdallah and only then enjoyed the break fast together with Hilell in the Old Union Lobby!
Way to go- guys! You really did start the year off on the right foot!

Hundreds of students filled the Chabad Sukkah for an outstanding evening of great food, music and fun. Mouth watering Ribs and sides, music by "Murray Hill" & spontaneous dancing, plus good old fashioned shmoozing had everyone agreeing that this is one of the funnest Jewish events at BU.
