Unusual passion and work ethic creates fuels operation Shabbat 1500
"Nowhere will you find such dedication" said Rivkah Slonim in describing the work and toil of the Chabad student leadership, the various committee heads and all of the hundreds of students who worked to publicize, recruit for, set up and clean up after Shabbat 1500. "An event like that-- quite literally of mammoth proportion-- could never have happened if we did not have the singularly unique community we have at Binghamton."

Record Breaking Shabbat rocks Binghamton
Close to 1600 students, YES 1600 students, filled the Binghamton University Event Center for the largest Shabbat dinner to be held anywhere across the nation. Great a capella, rousing words, even spirited dancing, and hundreds of women lighting the Shabbat candles helped transform the cavernous space into a holy, warm, inviting "dining room" in which the gathered could enjoy a Shabbat dinner they will long remember. Oh yes, the food was delicious too!

It's a winning recipe: the chance to learn how to mix, knead and shape
your own challah from Hadasa while munching on freshly baked challah
and dips, and take home your own loaf at the end of it. Who can resist?

NOTHING compares to that first slice of Pizza after Pesach. Smart BU students knew where to come to break their "chametz fast" while in great company.

Graduating seniors and their underclassman peers gathered on Friday night, for the “Good-Bye” Shabbat at Chabad, an annual event with unique and memorable traditions. Highlighting the evening was the “class of 2012 picture” and remarks by many of the graduating seniors and members of the Chabad Staff. As the evening turned to early morning participants were still at Chabad, unwilling or unable to say good-bye. And so we say only L’hitraot.

Binghamton had not one, but two buses go on birthright Israel through Mayanot. One led by Rabbi Chein and the other by Rabbi Levi.
Some of the highlights of this "time of their lives" include the Water hike at Ein Tinah, the Bedouin tents in the dessert, moving Bat Mitzvah celebrations , rousing Friday night services at the Wall and ten days of bonding in our ancestral home, Israel!
If you have not yet gone on birthright, Mayanot is the way to go. Keep your eyes peeled for registration info for upcoming trips at MayanotIsrael.com
