It's not everyday you get to meet a Wold Champion but Chabad students got to meet and chill with Yuri Forman, a world boxing champion, and hear all about his unique and fascinating journey from secular Jew in the former soviet Jewry to observant Rabbinical student and celebrity in the States. Yuri shared honestly about the twists and turns of his life and how he synthesizes his religious observance and his career path.

Binghamton students are big hearted. They celebrated Chanukah in unique fashion by lighting up the lives of hundreds of children with cancer. through the Chai Lifeline Ny Based organization, who were the ecstatic recipients of toys collected for their pleasure. Over $6,000 worth of toys were collected in the drive spearheaded by Chabad , SAE and SDT and co-sponsored by an additional ten Greek groups. The event featured the kindling of a one of a kind Menorah in which the toys were displayed, a performance by the Crosbys and delicious treats for all.

Girls Nite Out for Fall '10 ended with a bang with a great crowd of women bonding in the kitchen over the creation of crispy potato latkes and melt in your mouth donuts. And then getting all down and twisty ( and competitive) with the dreidel spin off. So much oil, so much fun, such a great vibe!

It's KOSHER MEAT man! Never underestimate what enterprising students can accomplish. Four friends have decided to do something for the Jewish community at BU and opened a kosher Deli, the Metropolis , which operates out of Chabad each Tuesday 5:30-7:30pm. The word on the street is that the food is delicious and the price is right.

Binghamton University was chosen as a site for the pre-screening of a film-- still in progress-- which explores the topic of being shomer negia, careful not to engage in physical interaction with members of the opposite gender. The film, produced by Talia Miller and Yocheved Sidoff was shown to an enthusiastic crowd that shared its honest feedback with the producers in a spirited session that followed the screening. Stay tuned for when it goes public. This is sure to make waves, especially because it charts the courtship and eventual marriage of film producer Talia Miller and Reggae Superstar, Matisyahu.

Even the sub zero temperature on the coldest night of the season couldn't keep the Challah aficionados away! They enjoyed mixing, kneading, shaping and baking the world's best bread. Keep your eyes peeled for information about the next Challah Baking workshop coming to the Chabad near you, soon!

An evening of delightful humor and cutting edge satire was enjoyed by all who attended The Great Debate on the subject of Latkes vs. Hamantashen. Professor Arieh Ullmann argued for the sweet Hamantash while Professor David Bosnick made an impassioned plea on behalf of the hearty potato. Professor Dora Polachek moderated and the clear winner was the audience who enjoyed the sharp wit and original papers presented by both sides. The debate was brought to BU by the Oy Gevald Think Tank, a division of the Chabad Center for Jewish Student Life at BU.
