In an afternoon celebration of deep meaning, passion and joy, four Binghamton University students celebrated their Bar/Bat Mitzvahs at Chabad's first annual Bar/Bat Mitzvah Bash.
Emily Mydosh, Mikell Senger, Anna Bitterbaum and Dan Lazrus each spoke movingly, giving personal context and dimension to their celebration of this rite of passage at this age. A lavish meal, spirited dancing and fun atmosphere made this an unforgettable affair.
Chabad is currently accepting applications from BU students who wish to similarly celebrate their Bar/Bat Mitzvahs in the celebration to be held in Spring of 2012.

Think Paris in Spring is fun? not as much as the February 22nd French themed cafe held at Chabad at which students enjoyed delicious French desserts, great music and each other's company.

For the third year running Alpha Phi, SDT and Chabad put their hearts and heads together to help Sharsheret, an organization dedicated to providing services and support to Jewish women with breast cancer.
The program, enjoyed by hundreds, included vendors, brunch and desserts, manicures, dramatic readings, performances, heartfelt words from survivors and of course- the fashion show!
It was a fun and inspiring day for all who attended.

What would a Jewish holiday be without a signature treat?
Lucky participants enjoyed making Hamantashen of all flavors with Hadasa. Everyone went home with a stash but left of the deliciousness behind to be distributed through the Maasim Tovim foundation to the elderly residents in local homes. Happy Purim!

At Binghamton we don't mess around. Even when school is out for Purim, the Purim Carnival is still one of the hugest events on our campus.
This year, the 20th annual carnival was held in the event center with more attractions and rides than ever before. Everyone agreed it was awesome: the food, music, contests and fabulous prize drawings. Best of all? charity was raised to distribute to important charities including the rescue and rebuilding efforts in Japan.

The young and young at heart enjoyed the Build Your Own Purim Feast Shindig at Chabad. An all pervasive feeling of joy and community filled the room as participants enjoyed the food stations, the music, the dancing, the Hamantashen baking, mask decorating and very popular parade of children in costume. Purim celebrated together; it doesn't get better!

Lucky GNO participants had the Pottery Barn come to them! The girls enjoyed painting their very own over sized mugs ( they all came out gorgeous!) and a discussion about the significance of Jewish birthdays. Now they have reminder of the fun and bonding of Girls Night Out programming and a classy/funky/ one of a kind mug from which to savor their favorite drinks.

A first for Binghamton University! On Monday, April 4, a large group of students attired in the specially designed Shabbat 1500 t-shirts participated in a flash mob freeze to publicize the April 8, Shabbat 1500 program. Despite the rain, hundreds of students on their way to classes on the Lois DeFleur walkway stopped and enjoyed the stunt. The word is definitely out!

Shabbat 1500; Staggering project, Awesome spirit.
What does it take to turn a huge, barren, university gym into a place of warmth, community, friendship and Jewish pride? A small army of dedicated Chabad students who schlepped tons of food, reached out to their friends and acquaintances, dealt with complicated logistics, set up hundreds of tables and chairs and put their hearts and souls into creating the single largest Shabbat dinner to take place anywhere!
