jLearn participants marked the completion of another meaningful semester of Jewish learning with an elegant banquet. Stimulating subject matter, a wide choice of topics, the ability to question any premise and receive honest answers are among the factors that keep students coming back to enjoy jlearn.

In an embarrassment of riches, lunch goers at Chabad enjoyed five different cholents-- all savory, all delicious, all a delight for any gourmand! Newbies Mike Snow & Eytan Rosenbloom took home the Cholent Medal for 2011!

Amazing how delicious, serene and meaningful a simulated Shabbat dinner can be... but what participants really took away from this Girls NIght Out event-- at which they cooked shabbat treats and enjoyed a full dinner and learning about all of the traditions-- was how to tap into the special ingredient called Shabbat holiness which comes our way each week beginning Friday at sunset until Saturday at nightfall. Can't wait for the new series of GNO fabulous events next year!

Who ever thought a wild idea like a Kosher Deli in Binghamton could be so madly and deliciously successful! Kudos to the founding entrepreneurs and here's hoping that in future years it only builds on your success.

One more Drink
Over five hundred students were held spell bound by a presentation given by Daniel Tratt '02 titled When too much is too much. Daniel shared his sobering, personal experience with binge drinking and the dire consequences thereof, in his case, an accident that left him paralyzed from the waist down. His message was one of courage and resilience and the ability to surmount even such a setback. Nonetheless, he urged students to be careful and not make the same mistakes he did. The program was sponsored by the Chabad Center and the Office for Greek Life at BU.

Hundreds of students gathered in a joyous but emotion filled farewell that began with hors d'oeuvres at 6pm and included candle lighting, services, comments by the graduates and Chabad staff, spirited singing, shmoozing and bonding that went into the early hours of Saturday. It was hard to leave knowing that so many were moving on, and even returning students would have to wait a few months before they could once again enjoy the singular experience that is Shabbat at Chabad.

Where else do students go for comfort food, ambiance and community in the midst of the madness that is finals?
Students streamed to Chabad to study, eat, celebrate the end of this school year and say their good-byes- until next year.

Graduating seniors and their dates enjoyed an elegant Wine and Cheese reception at which they heard remarks from VP, Brian Rose, fellow classmate Ariella Zenilman, and alumni rep. Jonathan Gross '00. Special awards were granted, the Chabad Center received a meaningful gift from the graduating class, a slide show featuring pictures of the graduates during their four years in Binghamton was shown, and each graduate received gifts from Chabad. It was a wonderful evening but it was not a good-by; only L'hitraot, we'll see you again soon!

They are ten days that impact the rest of your life and make you think about who you are, what Judaism means, and how Israel as a homeland is relevant to your life.
