Dreidel Spin Off & Chanukah Bash '12 at Binghamton Univsersity
The Chabad Center for Jewish Student Life at Binghamton University held a mega Chanukah celebration which served as the culmination of its Light Up a Life, BU Chanukah Toy Drive. Over $10,000.00 worth of toys to be distributed to children with cancer through the NY based Chai Lifeline organization were gathered. At the event, participants attempted to break the currently held world record for the amount of people spinning a dreidel at one time. While the assembled fell a few participants short of breaking the record, the spirit in the room was absolutely electric. Throughout the event there were 900 people in the room with 749 for the actual spin-off.
Some of the dreidels did not spin the requisite 10 seconds, explained the appointed student ushers who observed the proceedings, so we could not quite break the official current number of 734 as recorded by the Guinness World Record.
The Toy Drive was spearheaded by Chabad Center for Jewish Student Life, Sigma Alpha Epsilon and Sigma Delta Tau
Co-Sponsored by AEPi, ΑΕΦ, АΣФ, ΔΦΕ, ΔΧ, ΠΛΦ, ΠKA, ΣΑΕΠ Colony, TAΥ, ΧΦ, Binghamton Jewish Community, Camp Yavneh, Hillel Academy, Kaplan Test Prep, Student Association, Twin River Commons, Yeshivah of Flatbush and 3i Graphics & Signs
